Women greet challenge of tackling goals, football

At the southwest corner of the Qualcomm Stadium parking lot rests a football field. In its younger, pristine days, the field served as the Chargers’ practice facility.
Today, it is strewed with cigarette butts.
The grass is cut raggedly short. There’s some green. Mainly there are vast expanses of brown with dirt spots.
But for some women, that neglected turf represented their field of dreams the past couple of weeks.
